Who was Charles Baillairgé?
He was the architect who built the original Clarendon 1870 Hotel. The hotel has undergone major renovations and expansion since then, resulting in the building you see today with its combination of unique styles.
A rooftop garden
In 2009, the hotel created a garden on its roof. Our chef uses fresh herbs from the garden, and its beautiful flowers grace guests’ tables.
Jazz nights at the Clarendon
From May19th 2011, discover talent from the local and international jazz scene every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Beginning at 9 p.m.
Restaurant - Pub
At the Charles Baillairgé, you’ll enjoy market cuisine, not French cuisine. After all, this is Québec City, not Paris.

Superb woodwork, large-scale photos of Old Québec in the 1920s, mirrors, unobtrusive speakers playing jazz, bustling waiters… the place has panache. Enjoy a cozy atmosphere with the charm of yesteryear.
Always contemporary, the Charles Baillairgé Restaurant offers you a modern, bold menu. Fillet of beef covered of a morels and “foie gras” sauce, salmon with its two tomatoes vanilla marmalade, duck tartar with Griffon mustard. Our regional products will win over sceptics from the first taste. And as a beautiful end to a beautiful meal, try the delicious crème brulée, a house specialty.
The Charles Baillairgé is more than just a restaurant, it’s a culinary experience. Even the French leave astounded.
