This is in keeping with our mission, which is to distinguish ourselves through exceptional, one-of-a-kind customer service, by providing our employees a pleasant, stimulating work environment and constantly renewing products and services to meet our customers’ needs and keep pace with trends, while staying in line with our five hearts philosophy. In its operations, the Groupe Dufour is committed to respecting the principles of privacy protection based on e-commerce standards. Here are some of the types of information we collect, why we collect it, how we process it and how we use it to improve our websites. We hope that you will read the sections below to understand how the information will be used so that you can make informed decisions.
The Groupe Dufour collects information about its customers on its websites to deliver services that meet their needs. Information can be requested when a person makes a reservation, buys a product, requests information, subscribes to our newsletter or applies for a job. We make every effort to collect this information only with your knowledge, if necessary, and with your consent. The personally identifiable information collected can relate to your name, home, business and email address, phone and fax numbers, credit cards, date of birth, sex, preferences, such as type of room, leisure activities, your children’s age and other information to respond to special requests. The Groupe Dufour may gather information not intended to identify you, such as your patterns of usage on our websites, preferred means of communication, information regarding your stays and responses to our promotional offers.
Here are a few reasons why we gather personally identifiable information that you provide or why we ask for it when you use our websites, products and services:
You can always choose not to disclose personal information or to decide on the type of communication you want to receive from us. However, this may have an impact on how transactions are carried out. For example, you won’t be able to make a reservation if you don’t provide your name.
In most cases, the information you provide is added to a database. When your personal information is processed, it may be sent to a third-party service provider. The Groupe Dufour’s general policy is not to sell, rent or send personally identifiable information to unaffiliated third parties. The circumstances under which the Groupe Dufour would disclose the information collected are as follows:
The exchange or disclosure of your information is needed to offer you the best products and services you request (e.g. reservations for a round of golf).
Companies or service suppliers that work with the Groupe Dufour require such information (for example, for credit card processing, customer service or database management service).
The Groupe Dufour merges with or is acquired by another company.
To respect legal or regulatory obligations or as required by the courts.
In the event of an emergency, to protect the life, health or property of others.
If information must be shared as indicated above, we will try to limit the amount of information provided, depending on the situation. Unless judicial proceedings oblige us to do otherwise, we require third parties to protect your personally identifiable information.
We may need to contact you by mail, email, phone or other means to inform you of new products and services of the Groupe Dufour, upcoming special offers from the Groupe Dufour, events, improvements or any other information likely to interest you. You could also receive mail from carefully selected third parties. You have the right to refuse the abovementioned communications by following the instructions indicated in our electronic or other communications or by contacting us. However, certain information may be stored for an undetermined period in datasaver systems or in recording files for technical, financial or legal purposes. For this reason, your personal information might not be completely removed from our databases despite your request.
The Groupe Dufour recognizes the importance of information security and constantly verifies and improves its rules and technical, physical and logical security procedures. The Groupe Dufour’s websites have security measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse or alteration when it is under our responsibility. While there is no such thing as “guaranteed security” on or off the Internet, we protect your information with procedural and technical protection methods.
We use the services of the company TravelClick Inc. and their Istay II™ platform to process your online reservation of rooms and packages on our websites. For online cruise reservations we use Billdufour software, proprietary to Groupe Dufour. We may also use other suppliers to meet to your requests for products and services. The information collected by these outside suppliers will be used only to process your reservation or purchase and will not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those listed above or, if otherwise, without your prior formal consent.
