Many well-known people have made the Clarendon Hotel their own. Politicians obviously, but also artists such as Steve Amirault, François Marcaurelle, Diana Krall, Michel Donato, Jan Jarczyk and Maurane have turned our jazz evenings into pleasantly raucous events (with the most honourable of intentions of course).
Mayor Labeaume asked us to host his holiday reception, and it was the right choice. It was such a success that he had to be discreet to avoid people talking too much about it.
The Clarendon Hotel is anything but stuck in the past; it is regularly part of the events of the day. I can let you in on a secret as long as you don’t repeat it: the hotel supports the Les Capitales de Québec baseball team and the Université Laval’s basketball team the Kebs.
The date was August 17, 1943. Over 200 journalists, camera paraphernalia in tow, descended on the Clarendon Hotel. They were getting ready to cover the meeting of two illustrious gentlemen who had come to Québec City to plan their trip to France. The discussion was definitely not of whisky and cigars. Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt were laying the foundations for the Normandy landings. When they left the Clarendon two weeks later, they had set the wheels in motion for the liberation of France.
The hotel
Class, courtesy and a penchant for luxury. Old habits die hard.
An art deco facade, wrought iron and glass doors that are the ultimate in elegance, dark woodwork, a chandelier, a classic and refined decor: it takes a special hotel to make world-class politicos agree. Louis Alexandre Taschereau, Bernard Landry, Jack Layton and Régis Labeaume have found common ground with the Clarendon Hotel.
You too are welcome in this historic building. You’ll be in your element…you’ve always suspected you had class. You’ll be greeted by courteous staff who will hand you the keys to your room.

Settled into in a well-stuffed armchair, you’ll enjoy the view from the hotel’s large, elegantly dressed windows of the gardens of Hôtel de Ville and the old cobblestone streets lined with restaurants, boutiques and art galleries.
Just next door is the Édifice Price, a well-kept secret that you’re in on now… For important occasions, Premier Jean Charest uses the services of the caterer from the Clarendon Hotel. A sign of his good taste and discernment…

The four corners of the city are just a short stroll from the ideally located hotel. Petit Champlain, Rue St-Paul and Rue St-Jean: our guests head out in dark sunglasses, celebrity oblige! The Clarendon Hotel just won’t be outclassed!
