From Friday, January 27 to Sunday, February 12, 2012, Bonhomme Carnaval awaits you for the 58th edition of the largest winter celebration: the Quebec Winter Carnival. Join in on the fun and the many carnival activities with family or friends! And of course, don’t miss the famous parade that closes out the festivities.
From June 8 to July 3, 2011, Quebec City’s Festival Grand Rire hosts performers from the world of comedy.
From June 15 to September 15, 2011, The Image Mill, an architectural projection produced in Quebec City by Robert Lepage and Ex Machina, offers one of the largest projections ever produced, using cutting-edge technology. It’s a riot of images and film on the grain silos at the Old Port of Quebec!

From July 7 to 17, 2011, the Festival d'été de Québec, one of the largest arts events in Canada, will thrill the city with over 300 outdoor shows and 1,000 performers in 11 days.
From July 23 to August 10, 2011, the Loto-Québec International Fireworks Competition, an international calibre competition of fireworks set to music, will take place at Parc de la Chute-Montmorency.
From August 3 to 7, 2011, the Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France SAQ offers you a voyage in time to the 17th and 18th centuries during French rule.

The National Battlefields

In January, the Snowboard Jamboree comes to downtown Quebec City on the site of the Îlot Fleurie. The jamboree features two competitions: the Big Air LG/FIS Snowboard World Cup and the Stairsmasters. Get ready for some excitement!
From February 9 to 19, 2012, the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament hosts more than 2,000 players aged 11 and 12 from 15 countries. Come cheer them on and admire their talent at the Colisée de Québec!
Winter Pentathlon
Held at the end of February, the Winter Pentathlon is a multi-sport event that is unique in the world and open to one and all. Skating, skiing, snowshoeing, running and other activities are on the program.
Every winter, the Red Bull Crashed Ice makes the walls of Old Quebec resonate. This spectacular international sports event, combining downhill skiing, hockey and boardercross, attracts close to 100,000 fans every year.
In April, the Québec Open Championnat International de Karaté will be held at the Université Laval’s PEPS sports centre. Every year, thousands of spectators and over 2,000 competitors converge on the event from the four corners of the world.

The Remparts de Québec
The Remparts de Québec play in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, with plenty of games throughout the year.
August 28, 2011 is the date for the 14th edition of the SSQ Quebec City Marathon. The marathon and half-marathon start from Lévis on the South Shore. Participants cross the Quebec Bridge to complete their course in Old Quebec. This is the largest international sports event in the Quebec City region and one of the most popular marathons in Canada.
From September 10 to 18, 2011, the Bell Challenge plays host to the major stars of women’s tennis, as it has been doing since 1993. It’s a tournament that’s not to be missed.
Since June 4, 1999, the professional baseball team the Capitales de Québec have been playing on the diamond at the mythical Stade Municipal, reviving one of the leading lights of the minor leagues. The Clarendon 1870 is the official hotel of the Capitales de Québec, welcoming adversaries who come to town to take on the team.
